RANCHO SANTA FE — The Rancho Santa Fe Art Guild member and Rancho Santa Fe resident Manss Aval, has been selected as one of the artists to show at the 2013 Juried Biennial Exhibition at the William D. Cannon Art Gallery, in the Carlsbad City Library complex, 1775 Dove Lane, Carlsbad. Artwork by Aval is also on display at the Rancho Santa Fe Gallery, 6004 Paseo Delicias, through Jan. 5.The 2013 Juried Biennial Exhibition will be held at the Cannon Art Gallery in Carlsbad from Jan. 20 to March 9. The artist reception will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Jan. 19.

Aval has dedicated much of his time studying nature and wildlife. As his primary medium, he concentrates on photography and mixed media techniques. Through a juxtaposition of images his work captivates movements in time and space, creating enchanted sceneries with animals at center stage. His Heron Dreams series orchestrates the grace, agility and elegance of these birds into evocative, dramatic, romantic, sometime surreal symphonies of pure natural beauty. To experience the full impact of his works, they should be viewed in life-sized large format.

Aval’s art and photographic work has been exhibited at the Museum of the Living Artist, San Diego, the Rancho Santa Fe Gallery, the La Jolla Art Gallery, as well as in many other San Diego as well as other national and international venues.

The Cannon Art Gallery Juried Exhibitions are recognized as one of San Diego County’s most significant showcases for both emerging and mid-career artists in San Diego County. This year’s jurors for the Biennial were Scott Canty, director of the Los

Angeles Municipal Art Gallery and Chantel Paul, assistant curator of the Museum of

Photographic Arts in Balboa Park, San Diego. From more than 1,200 submissions, the jurors selected 100 works of art by 72 artists.
