The Spectrum Indian Wells Show runs March 16-19, 2017. The art show is a juried contemporary art show featuring publishers, galleries, and studios representing talented established artists. Fine Art Maya artists Manss Aval, Talieh Kesh and the NONOS will be displaying their talented works.

According to the Greeks, the gods were forever doing geometry. It has always occupied the human mind and dictated the environment we have created for ourselves. Manss Aval grew up in the West but is intimately familiar and fascinated with eastern cultures where for centuries artistic expressions were limited to calligraphy and geometric shapes. His latest painting and photography explore the concept of how these rigid, well-defined and nominally in organic shapes, can morph into moving, transforming, three-dimensional constructs. When ordinary circles can assume dynamic, doughnut-shaped faces and rectangles in perceptually transition to hexagons, octagons…. As elements of a twisting, flexible and growing multigonal boundary of abundant complexity and depth, the viewers eyes begin a journey to wherever it leads them, often returning to the origin to depart for a different destiny.

ART PALM SPRINGS TO WELCOME A RECORD-SETTING GROUP OF INTERNATIONAL GALLERIES

For Immediate Release: Over 70 galleries and special exhibits from around the U.S., South America and Europe will converge on Palm Springs for Art Palm Springs on February 16 through 19 at the Palm Springs Convention Center.

“This year’s list of galleries is truly impressive,” said Donna Davies, Vice President, Art Group for Urban Expositions. Along with the expanding number of galleries, the show is also expanding the number of talks, tours and special events throughout the weekend. “Our goal is to offer guests the opportunity to immerse themselves in the galleries, artists and Palm Springs for the weekend,” she added. Each year the show draws thousands of unique visitors to the convention center over the course of the Presidents’ Day weekend.

The fair will debut new work by several artists including Rachel Lee Hovnanian, Memorial for Poor Teddy, exhibited by Imago Galleries. Hovnanian is known for her interactive installations including Perfect Baby. In “Memorial for Poor Teddy,” viewers will climb into an enormous bed overflowing with hundreds of teddy bears, and in doing so instantly disrupt a dormant arrangement. Drawn in by the tactile nature of the installation, viewers then become the object of the conversation as they are surrounded by a symbol of early childhood incongruously paired with markers of their digital lives: “tags” around the bears’ necks name a smartphone app the toy has been “#replacedby.”

Elsewhere in the installation, a stainless steel reflective sculpture of a slain teddy bear with a knife protruding from its chest is illuminated by neon wall sculptures that state, “YBR / You’ve been replaced” and “I love my phone more than you / ILMPMTY.”

About MiamiArtZine

Miami Beach Arts Trust was founded in 1999 as a 501 (C)(3) organization by the City of Miami Beach with the primary goal of providing awareness of and funding for the Arts. In 2002, at the recommendation of the City Manager, the Trust separated from the City and became a stand-alone organization.

In addition to presenting workshops and spotlighting individual artists in all areas of the arts, the Miami Beach Arts Trust also acts as the fiscal agent for smaller, non-profit organizations. It now has a volunteer board of directors that oversees its activities.

The NONOS

NONOS are unique sculptures that playfully join motion and color to a fluent form of sensuality, eroticism and femininity. The sisters Franziska and Mercedes Welte have been artistically active under their pseudonym NONOS for years. They create their sculptures from combinations of various metals, polymers, fiber glass, epoxy resin and non-fading pigments. Filigree and at the same time extremely dynamic, the artists arrange their sculptures for dance and involve the spectator in a thrilling ensemble of color, form and movement. NONOS personify cheeky elegance and symbolize sensuality, power and spontaneity. Besides their work in the sculptural area the sisters are also active in the fields of painting and photography. The list of their international exhibitions ranges from Berlin, New York, Shanghai, Malta, Vienna, Amsterdam and Florida to Taipei. The sisters also work as designers, such as in exclusive designs for porcelain, Danish chairs and fashion with the couturier Nhut La Hong.

Manss Aval

Manss moved at tender age to Germany where he stayed to attend college, then on to Canada where he completed his degrees in Vancouver and finally to San Diego. He presently concentrates on painting, photography, and sculptures and has a broad set of skills with backgrounds in media, communications and the sciences (including a Ph.D.). A Nature enthusiast, Manss dedicated much time studying wildlife to captivate movements in time and space, creating enchanted sceneries with animals at center stage. His works levitate between fantasy and mysterious quantum space, leaving the viewer in meditative explorations of familiar memories, dreams and perhaps alien realities. His work feature a distinctly natural quality, full of soft, energetic shapes, earth tones, and subtle, vibrant colors and present a unique intersection of arts and science. Artist Manss Aval is participating in the upcoming Biancoscuro Art Contest – Winter Edition, 2016.

Manss has three unique paintings included in the contest: Order of Origin , Divisible  and Primordial Moments. 

A total of 16 pieces of art will be selected from the participating art submitted to the Winter Edition of Biancoscuro Art Contest.  The selected 16 submissions will be on display at the PARMA ART FAIR on February 25 -26 2017 and again on March 3-5, 2017.
